The Riverland Vine Improvement Committee's vineyard trial at Monash provides the grapes to make our wines. The vineyard is planted with a collection of over 50 clones and alternative varieties.
The aim is to research, identify and propogate the best alternative varieties for the hot Riverland region. Part of this trial process is winemaking, so it seemed most suitable to name our winery after our forebare and wine vine research pioneer - Richard Cirami.

Please note: You must be over 18 to purchase our wine.

Lagrein Riverland 2013

Details

This variety is a popular Italian variety, which is becoming well liked in Australia..

Tasting Notes: Extraordinary crimson-purple, bested only by th '13 Saperavi. This gives the bird to the idea that Lagrein needs a cool climate, for it not only has fruit, but also tannins. I have been intimidated into awarding it these points. Drink by 2016. Points 90. James Halliday. Wine Companion

Lagrein Riverland 2014

Details

Langrein is traditionally grown in Northern Italy.

Tasting Notes: Deep red through to purple in appearance, cherries, plum, vanilla and spice dominate the nose. The palat is of intense fruit, spice and dark chocolate, balanced by soft tannins and subtle oak. Matches ideally with a fine steak.

James Halliday says "Deep purple- crimson: theoretically, this cool climate Italian variety should be a square peg in a round hole in the hot Riverland climate. But its not! Instead, this is a wine with black and glace cherry fruit, spice and a splash of chocolate."
