Richard Cirami was a pioneer in clonal selection and variety assessment.
Richard was involved in Riverland Vine Improvement Committee (RVIC) activities for over 20 years, beginning in the early 1970’s.
In 2003, he was awarded the Order of Australia medal for his achievements and contributions to the wine industry.
RVIC continue Richard’s legacy with the “Cirami” property at Monash SA.
Over 50 varieties on this property afford them a rare and coveted opportunity. Each vintage, they are able to select the very best varieties to produce quality wines with distinct and unique characteristics.
The Riverland Vine Improvement Committee's vineyard trial at Monash provides the grapes to make our wines. The vineyard is planted with a collection of over 50 clones and alternative varieties.
The aim is to research, identify and propogate the best alternative varieties for the hot Riverland region. Part of this trial process is winemaking, so it seemed most suitable to name our winery after our forebare and wine vine research pioneer - Richard Cirami.
Please note: You must be over 18 to purchase our wine.
